Boston Bruins
They have not been playing well since Tuuka Rask went down with an undisclosed injury. It happen in a 2-1 win against the New Jersey Devils back on Oct. 20. Things have only got worse with Back-up Anton Khudobin going down with an upper-body injury, for atleast three weeks, he suffered it in Mondays practice. So the question has arisen, can the rookies handle being thrown in? So far its been a big fat nope.
The 22 year old Malcom Subban, who was phenomenal last year in the AHL for Providence, just hasn’t been stepping up to the challenge, being pulled in both of his starts for other rookie Zane McIntyre. Many believe Subban’s drop in performance has to do with the fractured larynx he suffered last February.
Subban had this to say about the whole situation “Yeah, it sucks, obviously, I’m just trying to finish the game, let alone win one. It sucks, but what can you do now, right?” Very true Malcom, nothing can be done now, so the 3-4 Bruins and Claude Julien need to figure out how to deal and get things back on track. Before the division hole is too deep to climb out of.
There is some good news though, Geico agreed to donate to Patrice’s pals, every time Bergeron wins a face off this season. With 57 wins so far, I think his organization is gonna recieve a good amount of help this year.
Boston Red Sox
Yea yea, their seasons over, but good news everyone. Drew Pomeranz will not be needing arm surgery in the off season and David Ortiz got some more hardware to put on his shelf. Big Papi has won his second AL Hank Aaron Award. Which doesn’t come as any surprise with the show he put on this season, breaking nearly every final season record. So congratulations Ortiz and again, you will be sorely missed.
Boston Celtics
Oh boy, the season is here and what better way to start then with a win. The boys in green looked very good last night against The Nets. Isaiah Thomas scored 25 and had 9 assists to go with it, Al Horford’s Celtic debut came along with 4 blocks and 6 assists, and 3rd overall draft choice Jaylen Brown played very well in his debut. Brown came off the bench to score the first 9 points of his career. Avery Bradley continued his defensive prowess as well, pulling down 9 rebounds, 4 of which were offensive. This team looked very in sink last night, Brad Stevens has them clicking. So let us just hope it will continue against Chicago tonight on TNT.
New England Patriots
Coming off another win against the Pittsburgh Steelers, bringing their over all record to 6-1. The Patriots now have to change their focus to not being swept by a conference opponent for the first time in over a decade. Though it’s not likely, seeing how the last time the Patriots played the Bills of Buffalo, they had an injured third string QB playing, anything is possible. Especially with how Buffalo can get the ball rolling on the ground. The rivalry will continue on Sunday, Brady and the boys will be looking to extend their 3 game win streak, while Rex Ryan will be looking to lead his team to a second win over New England.
This week also brought us the new nickname for the TE duo of Gronkowski and Bennett. Riggs and Murtaugh, Bennett explained, because they are a lethal weapon when on the field together, no one can argue that.
Homer Out.
